Return & Refund Policy

At Sunpower Hardware, we want you to be confident in every purchase. If something isn’t right, we’re here to help.

1) Eligibility for Returns

To be eligible, items must be:

  • In new/unused condition, with all original labels, manuals, accessories, and packaging.
  • Returned with the order number or proof of purchase.
  • Requested within 30 days of delivery (submit a request before the window expires).
  • Fitment-sensitive items (e.g., breakers, fittings, filters, flues, mounting kits) must not have been installed, wired, or used.

2) Items That Cannot Be Returned
  • Custom-made, cut-to-length, special-order, or personalized items.
  • Opened consumables (sealants, adhesives, oils, chemicals, silicones, paints, tapes) if the seal is broken.
  • Installed or used electricals/electronics (inverters, controllers, PCBs, motors) unless defective.
  • Clearance/“final sale” items marked non-returnable.
  • Gift cards and downloadable/activation codes.
  • Hazardous materials where transport laws prohibit return shipping.

3) Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

Please inspect your order on delivery and contact us within 48 hours if an item is defective, damaged, or incorrect:

  • We’ll arrange return shipping at our cost and repair/replace or refund.
  • Keep original packaging; photograph the item, packaging, and shipping label for claims.

4) Warranties (After the Return Window)

Many products include a manufacturer warranty. After the 30-day return period, warranty support may apply. We’ll help with diagnosis, claim submission, and repair/replacement according to the manufacturer’s terms. Proof of purchase and serial numbers may be required.

5) Large, Bulky, or Installed Goods

For large items (e.g., air-conditioners, geysers, solar panels, batteries, generators):

  • If installed, returns are limited to defect/warranty claims; removal/re-installation costs are not covered unless required by law.
  • Freight returns must use our approved carrier and original/adequate packaging to prevent transit damage.

6) Return Shipping & Fees
  • Change of mind / ordered wrong / not compatible: You cover shipping. A restocking fee may apply to cover inspection/repackaging if seals are broken or packaging is missing/marked.
  • If a return is refused due to ineligibility (used, damaged, missing parts), we can ship it back to you at your cost or you can pick up in store (30 Church Street, Crown North, Johannesburg, 2193) at no cost. 

7) How to Start a Return

1. Submit a request by sending an email to with:

  1. Order number (if applicable), item(s), reason, photos (if damaged/defective) and unopened/installed status.
  2. Pack securely (original packaging where possible). 
  3. We’ll then get back to you after examining your return request with shipping arrangements and more, if applicable.

8) Refunds, Processing & Timelines
  • Once received, we typically inspect within 3 business days.
  • Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 3–10 business days (bank processing may vary).
  • If we issue store credit or an exchange, we’ll confirm by email.

9) Exchanges

Where stock is available, we can exchange like-for-like or for another item (price differences collected/refunded accordingly). Exchange lead times depend on stock and shipping.


10) Bundles & Promotions

For bundles or buy-more-save offers:
• Returning part of a bundle may recalibrate the discount; your refund equals the bundle price minus the kept items at their standalone price.
• Free gifts must be returned unused and sealed, or their value may be deducted.


11) International Orders (if applicable)

International returns must comply with export/import and carrier rules. Duties and taxes are non-refundable by us; you may be able to claim locally. Hazardous goods return restrictions may apply.


12) Fraud & Abuse Prevention

We reserve the right to refuse or limit returns in cases of suspected abuse, excessive returns, missing serial numbers, altered items, or safety concerns, as permitted by law.

13) Your Legal Rights (Statutory Rights)

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under applicable consumer laws (e.g., cooling-off periods for distance sales, remedies for defective goods, or mandatory warranty rights). If you’re in South Africa, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act and Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (as applicable) remain unaffected.
